Hi, my name is Ashleigh and I have eczema.

I am 22 years old and live in North East Victoria. Currently I am studying to be a primary school teacher.

I have had eczema all my life, I have had my ups and downs and have been through a lot of products in search of what helps. My eczema has always and still does flare up anywhere on my body and often occurs on my torso down to my knees. I have learned to hide it well and people often only see a small amount and assume I don’t have much of it.

A lot of the way I take care of my skin is because of my mum. When I was little there wasn’t a wealth of information about eczema to access, my mum went through the trial and error process to find what worked for my skin and what didn’t. Although, as I often find with my skin, things change and some products that used to work just don’t anymore. I am allergic to a few things which cause a range of symptoms from hives to general allergies such as rashes, itchy eyes, runny nose and skin irritation (which comes with the eczema anyway). Some things I’m allergic to include peanuts, cats and dust. I am also an asthmatic and general allergies, if you would like to read more on the links between eczema and asthma and allergies click HERE.

DISCLAIMER: I am aware that my own journey with eczema is different to everyone else’s. My eczema is fairly mild compared to others and products and tricks that I use won’t necessarily work for others. Skin is a trial and error process and is different for each person.
